Hang on for a minute...we're trying to find some more stories you might like.

Former Roncalli Rebels Kendra Lynch and Megan Choinacky competed against each other in a double header between the North Carolina Tar Heels and Ohio State Buckeyes softball teams. Lynch graduated in 2013 to later become the pitcher for the Tar Heels, while Choinacky plays for the Buckeyes as an outfielder after graduating in 2015.

“I was not surprised to see them play college softball at the Division I level,” RHS softball coach David Lauck said. “They were both self-motivated and goal oriented. So, seeing their hard work pay off, and dreams come true, made me very proud of them.”

Lauck went to see these two teams compete in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

“I have only seen a handful of Division I softball games, so watching them compete at that level, in person, was very exciting,” Lauck said.

In their first game the Tar Heels won against the Buckeyes 8-7, but the Buckeyes later beat the Tar Heels 10-2 in their second game.

While at Roncalli, Lynch set both state and school records by having a total of 222 career hits. Choinacky also had a record number of 102 career hits which made her 11th in Roncalli school history for career hits.
