Hang on for a minute...we're trying to find some more stories you might like.

It has been 16 days since the Rebel baseball team lost a game. Now that may not seem like much, but in baseball, 16 days equates to 12 games. As a result, the Rebels are now riding an 11 game winning streak entering the end of the season.

Monday night at Victory Field, the baseball team crowned themselves County Champions with a 5-3 win over Perry Meridian. Senior shortstop Harrison Koppenhofer played the hero as he doubled down the line to score the winnings runs of the game. He finished 2-4 with two doubles and three RBIs, continuing his hot streak from the plate.

Junior pitcher Max Lundy was stellar on the mound, striking out eight and walking only one in six innings of work. Lundy picked up the win and senior Hayden Harper picked up the save in an inning of relief.

The following night, the City Champion Heritage Christian Eagles came to LaPinta Field in seek of a conference championship. A Roncalli win would result in a Conference Championship, while Heritage Christian would need to win two. Each team was in seek of their first conference championship.

Heritage Christian had beaten Cathedral at Victory Field the night before by a score of 8-1. By comparison, Roncalli had lost to Cathedral earlier this year 10-8.

Ultimately, Roncalli captured their first conference title in school history with a 3-2 win.

Koppenhofer continued his hot swinging, by going two for three with an RBI. Starting pitcher Colten Panaranto provided four strong innings in his start, and fellow senior Dylan Williams picked up the win in relief.

Towards the end of the game, due to an injury suffered by Heritage Christian pitcher Quinn Cobb, the Eagles were forced to play with only eight players. Pitcher Nick Woodworth had been taken out of the game earlier and was not allowed to reenter, forcing coach Dan Ambrose to realign his outfield with only two players.

Even with large gaps in center field and down both the left and right field lines, Jadon Ambrose, the pitcher called in to relieve the injured Cobb, was able to get out of the inning without surrendering too much damage.

Continuing their hot play, the Rebels defeated New Palestine 13-8 the following night. Freshman Ryan Henry picked up his first career varsity in in his first career varsity appearance by going six innings and striking out five.

Once again, Koppenhofer lead the charge going 3-4 with 4 more RBIs. His performance from the plate is keeping the 11 game winning streak alive.

To improve upon that, the Rebels put a beatdown on Heritage Christian in a 23-3 clobbering of the Eagles at Heritage Christian. The Rebels scraped together 20 hits, including home runs from seniors Nick Schnell, Chris Dobbs, and Hank Daniel. Koppenhofer, Williams, and junior Tommy Hansen both had two hits.

The Rebels are now 22-5 and play Bloomington North tonight at six.
