Q. What advice would you give students who want to become teachers?
A. Being a good teacher is largely about making a connection with kids. There are many skills that are important and subjects to be proficient in, but at the end of the day, the thing that makes a teacher really great is connecting with the kids they are teaching. So my advice would be to really take that into consideration when honestly assessing your gifts and skill set and making a career decision
Q. What made you want to become a teacher?
A. Honestly, it was having children at home that made me realize that I wanted to be in a classroom. I had already worked in other fields of study before working with students. It wasn’t until I had my own children at home to teach that I realized my gift and desire for teaching kids
Q. What’s your favorite movie?
A. St. Elmo’s Fire (an oldie but a goodie from 1985)
Q. What’s your favorite food?
A. Probably pizza. I never get tired of it
Q. What made you want to teach dance?
A. I grew up dancing. My dance studio/company was my happy place. Teaching dance was my first job. Later, as a young professional adult, I missed my connection with dance. I reconnected with it through adult classes, then decided to go back to teaching after I had my first child. It is something my girls and I have been lucky to share over the years
