Students took a poll to see what the top five Christmas movies are at Roncalli
As the holiday season began, Roncalli students were given the opportunity to fill out a survey regarding their favorite Christmas movie. Students voted for a variety of movies with the opportunity to fill in their favorite if it was not listed. Top movies included “Elf,” the “Home Alone” series, “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” or “The Grinch,” and “The Polar Express.”
The number one movie voted by the students was Christmas comedy “Elf.” This movie stars popular actor Will Farrell. He plays the main character who was born and orphaned who later sneaks into Santa’s bag, and he grows up while living on the north pole. Eventually, he is sent to go find his father in New York. He is not used to life outside of the North Pole, so it is filled with funny moments to entertain you the whole time.
Second, the “Home Alone” series was the runner-up. This movie follows Kevin as he is left at home on accident while his family goes on a Christmas trip to Paris. Kevin is an 8 year-old boy left at home to fend for himself. However, there are two house robbers who are looking to take over his house and steal his possessions. This movie is one for the entire family to enjoy.
Next, “The Grinch” or “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (non animated) follows the life of the mean green old grinch who hates Christmas. The Grinch is played by actor Jim Carry, and the movie was created in the year 2000. The film reveals how the Grinch despises Christmas, and how he hopes to steal Christmas from the people of Whoville.
Coming in at number four is “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” better known as “Christmas Vacation.” This movie reveals the different aspects of the Griswold Family Christmas. The main character is father Clark Griswold as he attempts to give his family the best Christmas ever. However, with the introduction of various family members and friends the movie takes a hilarious turn.
To round off the top five is “The Polar Express.” In this motion picture film a young boy is given the opportunity to ride the Polar Express led by a conductor voiced by Tom Hanks. The movie takes the audience on a journey to the north pole to experience Santa Claus and elves on Christmas Eve.
