With the 5-peat Conference Championship under their belt, the girls’ basketball team has no plan to stop. The Conference Championship win gave the girls a win to start Sectional play. As a freshman, Elliot Leffler had her first conference win and is ready to share this experience with her team.
“As a freshman, I knew this was a big game just going into Chatard and knowing the rivalry between our two teams, but as I saw the emotions of everyone else after we won I knew it was something special that I could share with this group of girls,” Leffler said.
With the post-season this week, the girls are trying to reach their peak. The upperclassmen push to get that first-round victory when they face the winner of Pike and Perry Meridian. They practice every day and go in with great intensity.
“Our main goal as the season ends is to get better each week. So, we go into practice with lots of focus and intensity because we want to hit our peak for the postseason,” senior, Taylor Turk said.
As players look back on the beginning of the year they see what they need to work on as a team to become better. They work in teamwork and can move the ball in practice. They plan on finishing the year off strong and working together to do that.
“We need to play more like a team. I feel like sometimes we play 1 on 5 and that’s not how you win games. We need to make sure we’re stronger than our other opponents and finish strong,” sophomore Brennah Cerny said.
