Qualifying for semi-state this week are freshman Jack Richardson, and sophomores Blake Getz, Peyton Schoettle, and Brody Heidelberger. Juniors who qualified include Will May, James Dozier, and Alex Plahitko, and returning qualifier senior Braden Getz. During the postseason Braden Getz was injured but was able to overcome the injuries and get ready for semi-state.
“Resting and taking practice lightly at the beginning of the week, I am limiting screen time this week and getting to bed early to heal the best I can,” Getz said.
Freshman Jack Richardson enjoys his dad being his coach, he pushes him to the best of his abilities.
“Having my dad as my coach motivates me to work harder in the room and in matches,” Richardson said.
One of the most important things for wrestlers is scoring points to win the meet. Schoettle was one of the leading scores during the season and is looking to continue it during the postseason
“I like moving the whole time and pushing the pace. I do my best to try to score as many points as possible and worry about doing my best rather than just winning the match,” said Schoettle
The wrestling team is looking to come strong at semi-state in New Castle. The team is working its hardest this week to have as many state qualifiers as possible.
