A team of new girls is getting started to face the challenges that the year’s season will bring. Freshman Lucy Swartz is adjusting to the new team and said that they all hope for a successful year by making goals.
“My goal is to be a leader to people and to be aggressive on offense and defense,” Swartz said.
Freshman Maggie Irwin had some mixed feelings about the start of a new season and people. She said that she is excited to play, but also nervous about how this year will go.
“My hopes are to have a good positive attitude and have a fun season,” Irwin said. “I also want to grow my relationship with the other girls while also focusing on myself and getting better this season.”
Starting something new can be hard, but you have to keep your spirits high. Freshman Lydia Heinekamp agreed that it is important to support your teammates and get them excited in a game.
“If me or one of my teammates make a good shot or play we all celebrate,” Heinekamp said. “We give each other high fives and cheer each other on.”
After the first game of the season freshman Carrigan Mahoney is feeling happy about their win.
“We were pretty nervous because it was our first highschool game and I am glad we could overcome our nerves,” Mahoney said. “I am glad we were able to play to the best of our abilities and win.”
