Starting off the year with two wins the team won with a score of 100.275 against Westfield and Morristown. Freshman Emiko Vecchio was excited, but anxious about her events.
“I was really nervous going into the first meet, especially since it’s my first year on the team, but I felt a lot better having the support from my teammates,” Vecchio said.
Freshman Miley Lemus prepares for her events by taking a deep breath and praying with her team.
“Our team prays before every meet and we will always dance together to the music,” Lemus said.
During every meet there are bars, beam, floor, and vault. While each event is important, freshman Eliana Shutta believes that one event shines above the rest.
“My favorite event is floor,” Shutta said. “I like it because you can see everyone’s personalities through their routines.”
With no more home games left for the season, the team has five meets left. If the team makes it to state, it will take place on March 17th at Ball State University.
