Roncalli hosted its annual Grandparents Day on August 29, 2025, in the Ascension St. Vincent Gymnasium. Grandparents were invited to a school liturgy and pep session as well as a tour of the school after mass with their grandchildren.
Students showed their grandparents their faith during the liturgy, accompanied by the choir, school spirit, and pride, as well as the pep session. The grandparents were then invited to join in with the cheers and chants. They got to see what being a Royal is all about.
”You guys have a lot of spirit,” Debbie Salyers, grandparent of junior Grace and freshman Owen Sidom said.
Students and staff came together to celebrate the Eucharist. At the end of every Mass, they join together for “Lean on Me” and the seniors circle up together in the middle.
“I love how unified everyone is,” Gloria Skinner, the grandparent of junior Carter and freshman Alaina Baase said.
Roncalli welcomed back many alumni during Grandparents Day. Some were also here when it was called Chartrand. Walking through the halls of Roncalli, alumni began to recall their time here. The school has grown as a community over the years.
”They have grown and added on so much. There are still a lot of the same fundamentals. I was in the first sophomore graduating class,” Kathleen Tilson said.
