Guidance counselors revamped the way they scheduled students’ classes for next year. Like anything new, there was good and bad feedback.
Each student had a unique experience when it came to scheduling classes, and these experiences can provide valuable guidance to underclassmen, making their scheduling process easier.
The juniors began scheduling at the beginning of December, ahead of the other grades.
“We had the first option, which made scheduling a lot less stressful and easier,” junior Olivia Scott said.
Their scheduling allowed for minimal error, which mostly allowed guidance counselors to complete their schedule within one meeting.
“Because our scheduling was with our counselors, mostly everything was figured out there which was so helpful,” Scott said.
This was different than in the past, as the counselors would normally meet with them after they scheduled.
“We changed up these meetings to be sure each student meets the credit requirements for graduation and to give them all the information they needed for Senior year, as well as life after graduation,” guidance counselor Angela Maly said.
Sophomores scheduled in the middle of January, and did so in the Ascension St. Vincent Gymnasium.
“I did not like scheduling in the ASV, because the internet did not work and we ended up having to schedule in our homerooms, which was frustrating,” sophomore Anna Wagner said.
Though scheduling was easy for most, improvement could be made.
“The day we scheduled sophomores, Wi-Fi and Google were having issues, which led the students to end up scheduling in their homerooms,” guidance counselor Maly said.
Some sophomores believe that scheduling should’ve occurred in a different format, in order to prevent internet issues.
“Scheduling should be through Google Forms, as we did freshman year, because it was a lot more simple to complete scheduling without issue,” Wagner said.
Overall, scheduling was completed mostly without issue.
“We all understood how to schedule and what classes we were required to take,” Wagner said.
Now that scheduling is completed, the students are glad the stress is over.
“I feel relieved to have everything prepared for the upcoming school year,” Scott said.
