I was one of the few sophomores selected to attend SLP 2024 on October 27-29, and I will forever be truly grateful for this experience.
“SLP” stands for Servant Leadership Program. We learned that to be a good leader we also need to know how to be led by someone else. Part of being a good leader is being humble enough to take criticism from others.
We were assigned to groups that we spent the next three days with. For me there were no other Roncalli kids in my group, so I had to put myself out there and make new friends.
I learned so much from the people I met while on this retreat. There were so many different kinds of people and so much to learn about them. By the time the retreat ended my group and I were a tight knit and we still talk today.
There were junior and senior leaders that attended the retreat in the previous years that helped lead sophomores through this experience. I hope to be able to return when I am a junior and perhaps a senior. I want to be able to shape this into a once-in-a-lifetime experience for others.
