The boys’ wrestling season is just starting up, and the season has been highly anticipated. Their seniors are expected to lead the team well. The team is 5-2 after a tough loss to 5th ranked Bloomington South 33-25. Their first win of the season was against Indian Creek.
“I think we can go far this year, and hope we can go back-to-back by claiming the school’s second team state championship,” senior Jackson McCurdy said.
Last year, the team won state and lost barely any wrestlers, so they have a lot of pressure to win it again.
“I have high expectations for the team this year because of how good of a year we had last year, and I still think we can exceed them with how the team has looked so far this year,” Senior Blake Getz states.
This team is also very experienced, which helps the team a lot.
“I was 5 years old when I started wrestling,” freshman Jack May said. McCurdy was six and Getz, just four, when they started the sport.
The team will be competing in the Roncalli Varsity Duals this Saturday starting at 8 a.m.
