Alison Holden made school history on January 31, 2026, becoming the first ever girls bowler at Roncalli to advance to the State Finals. Holden had a solid season, making the All Conference team and earning the spot as captain, as she was the top bowler in the conference all season. In the post season, Holden placed 4th at Sectionals, 3rd at Regionals, and 4th at Semi State, punching her spot in the state finals.
Last year, Holden advanced to the semi-state round, missing her spot in the State Finals by just 3 pins, so she had a lot of determination to make it to state this year.
“Last year, I had missed the cut to go to State by 3 pins, and that only made me even more determined to make it to State this year,” Holden said. “Each year I have used the disappointment of not advancing the prior year to work even harder and eventually make it to State my senior year.”
Coaches John and Nikki Bauerle have helped Alison over the 4 years to lead up to this moment.
“Her dedication and hard work has shaped her into the bowler she is today while elevating those around her, a true leader in the making,” Coach John Bauerle said.
The girls’ team will also be advancing to State on February 14, 2026 for the 3rd year in a row. They have been preparing for this day for a while. Holden is a vital player and leader on the team and hopes to finish strong with the team as well.
“We are preparing to go back to state as a team by continuing to work hard at practice and working on making our spares leading up to state,” Holden said.
Holden will bowl with the team on February 14 and individually on February 15, 2026.
