In their second meet, the gymnastics team placed 4th out of nine teams with a score of 100.125. A total of 15 schools were represented. Sophomore Elaine Shutta shares her preparation for meets.
“To prepare myself for meets, I usually just go through my routines in my head and make sure I am confident in my skills during warm ups. My feelings kind of depend on which event we are on. Before the beam, I am usually nervous about failing, but before my floor routine, I feel excited,” Shutta said.
In their 3rd meet, The Royals Gymnastics won over Columbus East with a score of 100.8.
Sophomore Bridget Lehner shares what she does before she begins her meets and her goals this season.
“Of course I eat and stretch before meets, but I also do my hair in what I think of as my “Lucky” hairstyle. My goal is always just to score a little bit higher than I did at previous meets! My team supports me by cheering me on as I complete and giving me constructive criticism at practice.”
Sophomore Elaine Shutta hopes to gain positivity in her meets, leaving with good feelings, and work on any improvements.
“At each meet, I just want to leave feeling proud of myself for trying my best whetherI do well or not. After every meet, I try to go through my routines and fix anything that didn’t go well so I can improve for next time.”
There are many more meets left this season, and the team will continue to work hard to make it to State.
