Growing up, Field was unaware that theology was something that could be studied outside of priesthood. While attending Indiana University, Field obtained her bachelor’s degree in advertising. During her time at IU, she was asked to start a club called the Thomistic Institute, which is a nationwide practice that universities have available to their students. Through this opportunity, Field found that her love to study religion was called theology.
“I started [the Thomistic Institute] at IU, and I just loved it, and I realized that my love for learning about the faith actually had a name called theology,” Field said.
With Field’s newfound desire to pursue her working career to something related to Catholicism, she worked in a Catholic marketing and advertising agency. However, she still felt a pull towards teaching religion. She began, and is still working on, earning her masters in theology from the University of Notre Dame.
In February, Field met Ms. Regan Happe for the first time and expressed her desire to teach. She told Field about a theology opening at Roncalli. So, Field applied and interviewed, loved the application process and our administrators. Field felt as though this opportunity was sent from God to pursue her career.
“I just knew it was something that God was calling me to do, one of those rare moments where God is being very clear about what He wants you to do next,” Field said.
Teaching at Roncalli for less than a semester, Field already feels that this was the right place for her. Having graduated from Carmel High School, she feels the Catholic education she is a part of is setting students up for success.
“I feel like at Roncalli, it’s a life prep school, so they’re not just teaching you how to do well in college, they’re teaching you how to be a well-rounded person of faith as well,” Field said.
Overall, Field has experienced so much positive throughout her short time at Roncalli. She describes the school as tight-knit and familial. This welcoming and faith-filled community allows Field to feel confident that she is exactly where she is meant to be.
“There’s something special about being at Roncalli, a community of faith, and a school as well,” Field said.
