Freshman Audrey Iams recently performed in Butler University’s performance of The Nutcracker.
She danced in the Nutcracker that Butler University hosted and played the part of a party girl.
“This is my 12th year dancing, and this is my third time dancing in the Butler Nutcracker. I wear a big pink and green dress,” Iams said.
The preparation for this performance is a lot for any student.
“Our practices for the Nutcracker are usually around an hour and a half, and they usually consist of us running our routine and perfecting each piece. The week of the show, practices last all day because we run the whole thing twice,” Iams said.
Although she is dancing in this show, she still has to find a way to balance schoolwork and prepare herself for the big night.
“ It can be hard to manage both practices and school work, but it is important that I learn how to manage and balance my time,” Iams said.
Iams has found ways of dealing with the stress of performing and keeping up with her responsibilities.
“There are definitely times when I feel stressed or overwhelmed when trying to balance my time. Things that help me are making lists or schedules so that I stay on track and manage my time,” Iams said.
The shows were December 4th – December 6th. Altogether, there were 8,644 tickets sold in four shows.
